[ When Logan begins to move, Steve is tempted to say something but the way that he's being so careful with him stops him altogether. Besides, it doesn't help that he's far too comfortable even now to really wake up and taking on all the responsibilities that will come from that, so staying where he's at isn't that difficult.
He's a terrible liar, though, and can't fake-sleep to save his life. That's why, when Logan speaks, Steve chuckles softly even if he keeps his eyes closed for a moment before he opens them just enough to peer over at him. ]
Mostly because [ there's a chomp on his banana, and Logan swallows the mouthful before speaking again ] you could've saved me the trouble of moving you so carefully.
[ Although clearly Logan doesn't mind. Even in the dim light there's a hint of a smile on his face, visible more in the way the corners of his eyes crinkle than in the curve of his mouth. He eats two more mouthfuls before finally popping the medicine in and washing it down with water.
He holds the bitten banana Steve's way, trying not to think too hard about how cute Steve looks like this, all close to sleep and gorgeous lashes and eyes soft as hell. ] You want some?
And miss out on you helping me lay down? Not a chance.
[ Steve opens his eyes, although they still feel a little heavy with sleep. It has been too long since he had last slept properly, that it’s like his body has forgotten how to boot up right away. Generally it’s easy, considering he hardly sleeps and when he does, it’s light and more of a nap than anything else.
Being here, though, on his couch and with him... Apparently he had finally gotten comfortable. Go figure. ]
Nah, I’m good, but thank you. [ He pauses, but only for a moment. ] What if I make you pancakes, though? As a thank you, for letting me sleep on your couch.
Yeah? [ Logan never says no to Steve's pancakes. He fears the man knows this and is using it to his advantage.
But also finishes the last of his banana and lays the peel gently on the coffee table. ] Maybe when it ain't so god damn early.
[ Logan doesn't miss the lethargy in Steve's tone, after all. Doesn't miss how tired he is. He's still seated on the armrest, but reaches down with one hand to brush away what hair's gone and fallen atop Steve's forehead. ]
Couch isn't even that good. [ He's only being honest. ] Should just sleep in my bed.
[ Oh Steve does have a hunch that Logan likes his pancakes, and he banks on it. It gives him a chance to spend more time with him, and he’s able to give him something he likes. How can he not offer it?
He’s ready to start pushing himself up when suddenly his fingers are in his hair, and Steve’s eyes unconsciously close as a small, lazy smile crosses his lips.
Damn, he’s good at finding weak spots. ]
Don’t sell your couch short. It’s pretty comfortable to me.
[ He peers up at him, the smile quirking slightly higher. ] Although I’d never pass up on an invitation to sleep on your bed.
[ Logan's about to open his mouth and say something incriminating, something like it's comfortable, but it's hard to fit both of us on it, but Steve beats him to the chase. Has him smiling instead in turn, unable to deny how cute it is the guy wants to come under his covers. ] Of course you wouldn't. [ He thinks, at some point, he's going to have to really define what it is they're doing. To ask Steve if this is real now. They've slept together, for Christ's sake-- in both the innocent and not-so innocent versions of the phrase-- and that's got to mean something, right?
But for now. For now, all Logan does is slip off the arm rest and pick the peel from the table with one hand, the other sliding along Steve's arm to take his wrist and tug. ]
Up and attem, hotshot. [ Then, quite firmly, he adds, ] I'm not carrying you.
[ It’s so easy with him. It’s so easy to be himself, to not force a smile and just be. He doesn’t say it a lot, but he’ll forever be thankful for the fact that Logan was assigned to him. That he was able to meet him - that they can do this.
A warm smile crosses his lips when he takes his hand, and he chuckles at what he says. ]
Well that’s disappointing. Here I was expecting a full ride to your room.
[ It’s obviously a joke, but Steve can’t help but say it. Letting go of the pillow he was holding, he pushes off the couch with his free arm so he can sit up before swinging his legs over so he can stand. Since his leg hasn’t really moved in hours, his knee feels a little unstable at first, and he knows it’ll be impossible to hide the limp as they start walking but...it’s just a testament that he feels close to Logan, that he didn’t try to mask it or push to stay on the couch. He’s letting him see this side of him, too - the side that he has gotten used to hiding from everyone so no one can see how bad his leg really had been injured in that attack.
He just hopes he didn’t ruin the moment by pulling back that ‘curtain,’ though. ]
...sorry. [ He smirks slightly, wry. ] See, this is why I don’t let myself sleep. Stops me from moving too long.
